We've just switched on something new at WholelottaVinyl: a daily vinyl auction UK collectors can actually use without an account, a deposit or a late-night sniping war. One hand-graded £20 record goes under the hammer every day. Bids open at £10, there's no reserve, and the whole thing runs from 12 noon to 8pm UK time. If you've been waiting for a fair, honest daily vinyl auction from a Mansfield record shop rather than a faceless marketplace, this is it.
Bookmark the Daily Vinyl Auction page. A fresh record goes up every day at 12 noon.
How does the WholelottaVinyl Daily Vinyl Auction work?
Every day we pick one second-hand record from the crates. It's always a £20 buy-it-now copy — not a £2 single someone forgot about, not a £200 rarity with a funny starting price. Bids start at £10. There is no reserve. Highest bid at 8pm UK wins.
That's the whole idea in one sentence: one record, eight hours, start at a tenner, no tricks.
We grade every copy by hand and photograph the actual sleeve and disc before it goes up, the same way we do for the rest of the shop. What you see is what you're bidding on.
Do I need an account to bid?
No. Enter your email, delivery address and card. Your card is saved securely through Stripe and only charged if you win. Lose the auction and nothing leaves your account. Win it and we'll charge the winning bid plus normal UK postage, then pack the record in a rigid mailer from Mansfield.
UK delivery only for auction wins. Local to Mansfield? Click & collect by appointment is still available the usual way for buy-it-now stock.
What happens if someone bids in the last minute?
A bid in the last two minutes adds two minutes to the clock. Nobody can snipe the record at 19:59:59 and leave everyone else staring at a finished page. If the last stretch turns into a proper scrap, the clock keeps slipping until someone wins fair and square.
How much is postage?
Normal UK postage is added to the winning bid. The record is posted tracked in a rigid record mailer from our Mansfield shop at 33 Lichfield Lane. No surprise "handling" fees, no international auction shipping maze — UK only for now.
When is the next auction?
A new record goes up every day at 12 noon UK. If you're reading this outside that window, the page will say the next one is being lined up — check back at midday. We don't invent titles ahead of time in this post: today's record lives on the auction page, not in a blog that goes out of date by tea time.
What if nobody bids?
If the record gets no bids by 8pm, it goes straight back to its buy-it-now slot in the shop. Nothing "disappears into a vault". Another £20 copy takes its place the next day at noon. Simple rotation, honest stock.
Why a daily vinyl auction from £10?
Because a lot of people want a crack at a decent LP without paying the full shelf price, and a lot of £20 records deserve a bit of theatre. Starting at £10 with no reserve means the winner sets the price. Sometimes that will be £10. Sometimes it'll climb. Either way, you're bidding on a real, graded copy from an independent UK shop — not a stock photo and a prayer.
We've been shipping records from Mansfield for years (21,000+ via eBay over the life of the shop). The daily vinyl auction is the same crates, same grades, same photos — just with a clock on them.
The kind of records that go under the hammer
Auction picks are always £20 buy-it-now copies from live stock. We're not naming "today's" album here (it changes at noon), but here are a few of the sort of £20 LPs sitting in the shop as we write — the kind of thing that can take a turn under the hammer:
- Queen – Flash Gordon LP (EMC 3351), VG/VG, £20· Sold — Brian May's soundtrack flex, UK EMI.
- Groundhogs – Split LP (LBG 83401), VG/VG+, £20 — early-70s UK Liberty, the serious crate dig.
- The Stranglers – No More Heroes LP (UAG 30200), VG/VG, £20 — United Artists classic, still a punchy listen.
- Aerosmith – Rock In A Hard Place LP (FC 38061), VG+/VG+, £20 — early-80s Columbia, graded honestly.
Those links are buy-it-now shelf copies right now. When one of them (or another £20 twin) is selected for the day, it'll show on the auction page instead. Browse the full vinyl records catalogue anytime.
How to bid (two-minute version)
- Open the Daily Vinyl Auction between 12 noon and 8pm UK.
- Check the grade, photos and catalogue number — same standard as the rest of the shop.
- Enter your email, address and card.
- Place your bid (from £10).
- If you win at 8pm (or after any overtime), we charge the winning bid + UK postage and post it tracked.

Auction terms in plain English
- One record per day.
- Bids from £10, no reserve.
- Open 12:00–20:00 UK.
- Last-two-minutes rule: +2 minutes.
- Card saved on first bid; charged only if you win.
- UK postage added for the winner; UK delivery only.
- No bids → record returns to buy-it-now; a new one goes up next day.
- Full terms sit on the auction page itself — read those before you bid if you're the type who reads the small print (we like you).
Dig the crates (auction or not)
Not every record wants a countdown clock. Most of the shop is still straight buy-it-now: browse all vinyl records, dig the £2 singles deal when it's on, or tell us what you're hunting for on the wanted list. New customers still get Autumn10 for 10% off a normal order (one code per order) — auction wins are their own thing.
We're WholelottaVinyl in Mansfield: hand-graded used vinyl, real photos, posted tracked. The daily vinyl auction UK run is live now. See you at noon.
