We’re an independent UK vinyl record shop based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. We started in 2022, growing out of selling records on eBay, and have since shipped more than 19,000 records to customers in the UK and around the world.
Today, more than 3,600 records are in stock, and every one has been handled, checked and described by people who genuinely care about music.
A real independent record shop, not a barcode warehouse
WholelottaVinyl is a small team rather than a faceless warehouse operation.
When you order, your record isn’t simply scanned from a shelf and pushed into the nearest box. We hand-sort every order, check the item, clean it before posting and pack it properly. There’s human judgement involved at every stage.
That matters when you’re buying second hand vinyl records.
A computer can tell you an item’s catalogue number. It can’t always spot a problem with a sleeve corner, recognise an unusual pressing detail or decide whether a mark is likely to affect playback. Those checks come from experience and careful handling.
Our feedback reflects that approach: more than 19,000 records shipped, 99.8% positive feedback and over 2,700 followers built up since we began.

How we grade second-hand vinyl records
Every record is hand-graded using the Goldmine grading standard. We carry out both a visual check and a play check, then grade the vinyl and sleeve separately.
That distinction is important. A record may play well but have a worn sleeve, or have a lovely-looking cover while carrying more visible marks on the disc.
You’ll see honest descriptions rather than vague phrases such as “looks okay”.
In practical terms, our grading includes:

Near Mint: Looks and plays close to new

Very Good Plus: Light marks or sleeve wear, with no significant effect on play

Very Good: An honest used copy that may have light surface noise in quieter passages

Good and below: More visibly worn or noisy records, described clearly for buyers who understand what they’re taking on
Cheap vinyl doesn’t mean careless grading. A £5 album receives the same attention as a more expensive collectible.
If you’re unsure about a particular pressing, sleeve fault or condition note, ask. Taking a careful look before buying is sensible, especially with older records.
Cleaned, protected and packed properly
Once an order is placed, the record is cleaned before posting. It is then packed in a stiffened record mailer designed to protect the sleeve and disc during delivery.
That may sound like a small detail, but packaging is part of the buying experience. A beautifully graded record is no use if it arrives bent in a thin envelope.
Orders are prepared by people who know what they’re handling. Records are checked, sleeves are protected and the parcel is sent with tracked delivery across the UK and worldwide.
If something isn’t as described, you also have 60 days to return it.
